Dear all
It is with immense sadness that Alfold Parish Council announces the unexpected passing of Cllr Edmond McCudden early on Christmas morning.
Ed was a fantastic councillor who gave his all for Alfold village. He was a brilliant colleague who really enjoyed helping others, which was his primary reason for joining the parish council in 2023. He loved the village and its residents from the day he moved in and took great delight in telling me of the next project he wanted to get involved in, within the parish. He was the perfect parish councillor and took everything in his stride with a cheeky sense of humour.
Ed was always incredibly supportive to me personally and to all connected with the Parish Council. He was also involved in a wide range of other initiatives and the hole he leaves will be truly difficult to fill. That is no doubt his legacy.
I am sure that many of you will agree that Ed will be an immense loss to the village and share with myself and the parish councillors in our sadness of his passing.
Ed’s funeral is scheduled to take place at St. Nicholas’ Church, Rosemary Lane, Alfold GU6 8EU at 12.30pm on 30th January with refreshments for attendees afterwards in Alfold’s Sports and Social Club. Further details can be found on the following link: Tribute to Edmond McCudden, 1958 – 2024.
We are looking at ways in which those local (and further afield) can find their way to commemorate all that he brought to both the life of this village and to the community at large once the parish is in a position to do so.
