Neighbourhood Plan

A ‘Neighbourhood Plan’ is a very important document which carries weight in local planning decisions. Alfold has been developing its Neighbourhood Plan since 2017, with involvement and consultation with local residents being crucial at every stage.

On 7th December 2023, we held our Referendum at which local residents resoundingly voted in favour of adopting the Neighbourhood Plan. In a strong turnout of 256 electors (28% of the registered electorate), 94% voted ‘Yes’ to adopting the Plan.

THE NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN IS THEREFORE NOW OFFICIALLY ‘MADE’ (ADOPTED).

The Neighbourhood Plan will be a material factor in all future planning decisions in the Parish, and any prospective applicants are strongly advised to read it, and its supporting documents carefully.  Alfold’s Neighbourhood Plan does not allocate any sites for housing development, and introduces a range of local policies aimed at protecting the character of the Parish and ensuring that any development is appropriate and sustainable, and accompanied by the necessary infrastructure.

During the development of the Plan, a number of Community Infrastructure Projects were identified (found in chapter 9).  Work is already underway taking some of these projects forward, and you can monitor their progress alongside other community projects in the Parish, by clicking the following link;
